Affordable Art at October Auction

October 13, Carmel, IN- The October 17th auction at Wickliff Auctioneers offers a large and varied selection of original and limited edition framed art, including many items estimated to sell below $500.

857PaluzziThe affordable art session includes items from a variety of genres, including post-modernism, American and European impressionism, regionalism and a host of other styles to suit many tastes.  Modern pieces include works by Erte, Paluzzi, Vasarely, Howard Sidman; there are classic etchings by Wm. M. Chase, Paul Cezanne, J Abbott McNeil Whistler; several paintings by current Indiana artists Ron Mack, J Rodney Reveal, Lawrence Rudolech, Steve Gerhartz, John Reynolds and others; and a number of paintings by listed American and European artists from the mid 19th century, through the first decade of the 21st century, including an original oil by Francois Gall.

Harry A Davis 2883Also featured is another session of original paintings from the Harry A Davis estate, consisting of a variety of subjects and mediums, ranging from the 1940s through the 1990s.  Davis’s paintings appeal to a broad range of buyers, as he executed a range of styles through his tenure as an art instructor and as a highly-regarded, prize winning artist.

964_2Ron MackA number of antique decorator paintings, including original pastels, will also be offered, part of an extensive group from a Bloomington collector’s estate.  A select number of paintings and works on paper from this estate will be offered in many of our forthcoming art and estate auctions.

The auction also includes decorative arts, antique Oriental rugs, estate furnishings and antiques, with the catalogue session beginning promptly at 10am.  Among other items featured, the auction contains antiques from the estate of Gloria Rush, formerly of Cincinnati, OH.  Prior to a 20-year antiques business, Mrs Rush was the secretary for the Ruth Lyons 50-50 Club for a decade.  Fine art will conclude Saturday’s offering and will commence at approximately 2pm.
